How can an instrument resonate when its this thickly coated
Some better photos of each joint, thick hard finish
This Bassoon is in for refinishing, the finish is original and thick and heavy from the manufacturer, up close it has crack marks all over it.
As i do initial stripping, look at how thick that finish is
Bassoon Refinishing
I have a special plastic media blasting cabinet
1500 dollars a 44 gallon drum, its super expensive
It easily removes the loose finish but is not strong enough to remove any leached stain into the wood
Ready for post removal
In a scrap cardboard block we insert all the posts
I choose some aniline powder to make my colour mix
And concoction for this instrument, need around 160mls all up
The wood has been smooth sanded to remove old stain
Gloves, stain, applicater and rag
